Two members of the Perth Rotary Club were recently presented with the highest
award in Rotary for their service to the community, club, and Rotary International.
Chris Hale and Gerda Hearty were chosen to receive the honour because of their
dedication to the motto of Rotary, 'Service Above Self.'
Chris has been extensively involved in the Guatemala Stove Project for a number of
years and has recently single handily raised over $6,000 to assist in the rebuilding
of villages in that country which was devastated by Hurricane Stan last Fall.
Gerda has been a club Director and club Secretary for many years as well as being
part of the organizing committee for Authors in the Park, a Rotary Trade Fair along
with numerous other projects the club is involved with.

Joe Marriner, Dept. Head of Health & Physical Education & Athletic Director at the
Perth & District Collegiate Institute is the recipient of The Rotary Club of Perth
Educator of the Year Award.
Presenting Joe with his award is Rotarian John Gibb-Carsley, project chair, and on
the right, Rotary President John Clement.
